covert cropland to permanent vegetation to reduce soil erosion,
improve water quality, improve wildlife habitat, and enhance
forest and wetland resources. Eligible practices include
filter strips,
field borders and grassed waterways. Landowners receive an
annual rental payment for the life of the contract. |
